Intelligent Energy is to launch a market leading 2.4kW fuel cell power product for the commercial UAV market at the largest industry show, AUVSI Xponential 2019, Chicago (30 April – 2 May).In just 18 months, Intelligent Energy has launched four products specifically designed for commercial UAVs. These products provide a solution to the constraints of battery power and offer minimum downtime and fast refuel, making them a compelling option for the commercial UAV market.Recently, Intelligent Energy’s 800W Fuel Cell Power Module – launched just eight months ago - was used to achieve a new Guinness World Record for the longest multi rotor flight time, conducted by South Korean company MetaVista. The multi-rotor UAV flew for 12 hours, 7 minutes and 5 seconds using liquid hydrogen to fuel the module. This record greatly exceeds the previous one held for 2 hours, 6 minutes 7 seconds, demonstrating just what can be achieved. Read More »
Longest ever multi rotor flight of over 12 hoursLoughborough, Tuesday 16 April 2019 – A flight time of 12 hours, 7 minutes and 22 seconds was officially recorded by South Korean company MetaVista as it successfully broke the multi rotor UAV Guinness World Record of flight time. The MetaVista team used a 6-litre liquid hydrogen cylinder and Intelligent Energy’s 800W Fuel Cell Power Module to power the UAV.The previous record held stood at 2 hours, 6 minutes and 7 seconds. The substantial difference in flight time achieved demonstrates the impact fuel cells could have on the commercial UAV industry, breaking through the limited flight time constraints of traditional batteries. Moonrock Insurance, a Drone Major Group supplier, is excited to announce a new partnership with Consortiq to promote safer drone flying for all of Moonrock's customers. The details of Moonrock's news are below: Drone safety hit the news in dramatic style in December. Christmas travel plans for thousands were disrupted and ruined, following sights of a drone flying in restricted airspace around Gatwick Airport. Following that incident, calls for greater restrictions on the use of drones resulted in the government announcing new powers for the police when it comes to drone use including the use of fixed penalty notices. What impact the new rules will have is unclear with further disruption experienced at Heathrow on 8 January following more drone sightings. Read More »
Consultancy is about collaboration – blending together ideas, strategies and expertise to create a product or service that matches the unique user requirements of the client(s). In theory, collaboration is clearly superior. In reality, however, genuine co-working can be taxing on all parties. One of the main reasons for the stress stems from the fear of competition between suppliers or stakeholders. To mitigate this fear and facilitate positive relationships among parties, TEAL Consulting integrates highly successful co-working models aimed at optimising customer values, leveraging current assets and building (or maintaining) positive internal and external business relationships. Their recent case studies highlight their positive responses in an array of applicable situations, such as critical improvement skills amongst high-potential managers and cross-functional analysis of customer profiles in relation to large public authorities. As the world’s leading independent drone and count Read More »
5G has been the subject of significant recent media scrutiny, with critics claiming that the high frequency, ultra-fast service is dangerous to overall health, while supporters assert its potential to revolutionise life as we know it by offering 10-20x faster internet speeds than its predecessor, 4G. Regardless of what side you may fall on, it is important to understand the basics of what 5G is and how, if implemented, it could affect activities like drone use.So, what is 5G? In the most basic sense, 5G is the next generation of internet connectivity. It dramatically increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the pre-existing radio spectrum, allowing more users to access the network simultaneously, whilst maintaining a strong and fast connection. Essentially, 5G means a stronger mobile internet connection, lightning fast web searches and almost immediate connection between users, especially in condensed urban areas. The applications are vast, ranging from seamless data sharing betwe Read More »
The days of small, recreational drones are long behind us, with commercial applications of drone technology expanding at an exciting, and often unforeseen, pace. It seems that every day there is a new prototype, a new business or a new application for drone and counter-drone technology, further sparking public interest in the true capabilities of this revolutionary technology.A recent, and very applicable, development comes in the form of crop monitoring. In previous years, monitoring large crops fields required large-scale piloted aircraft and bulky sensors; however, the so-called “Fourth Industrial Revolution” has introduced technologies that promise to make personal and professional tasks far more accessible. Drones are an important component of this revolution, as their applications in farming are producing substantial benefits for both farmers and the wider population.UAV’s equipped with advanced imaging sensors are now able to scan expansive fields and give detailed reports Read More »
The world today is fast paced, innovative and highly competitive. At times it seems that regulations cannot keep pace with inventors and at other times it is the case that inventors cannot keep pace with each other. Everyone is scrambling to create their own break through, hoping to bring to life a concept never before thought possible. Having recently gone through the Start-up phase ourselves, Drone Major knows that creating unique ideas is challenging… but finding funding should not be. To merge this gap and help other new, young companies, Drone Major has partnered with financial services provider, Swoop.LISTEN HERE TO THE PODCAST> In this episode of The Drone Major Podcast, Robert Garbett, the Chief Executive, discusses his own experience with building a Start-Up from a simple idea to a formalised business plan. He speaks on the importance of a full-spectrum team – people to produce the creative ideas and people to logically consider the financial consequences. “Being a fi Read More »
